We have been thinking a lot about fuel lately. It has been so cold that our stove needs a great deal of attention. That has us thinking about the quality of the wood that we are using. Every time that we reach into the woodpile, we try to choose a good piece of wood that will burn well and heat us up nicely. This careful choosing of fuel makes it easier for our 5 year old to understand the concept of good food fuel for people. It makes it easier for me to understand as well. -Polly

Lovely lovely photographs. We need to be stacking our firewood about now - it's been sitting in the rain, blown in the wind, and baked in the sun.
